As spring gradually advances with some trepidation, and we get the odd blue sky, so the wedding 'season' is getting closer with couples making the final arrangements for their wedding this year. With the current economic climate many are naturally trying to cut corners and are relying on friends and family to provide their wedding photographs. As a photographer who has seen so many weddings fail to be captured because of panic on the day, cameras failing, batteries running out etc. etc. I find it very sad that this is seen as a 'safe' saving. OK, so I am in a prejudiced place and you would expect me to say that wouldn't you? That is an understandable point, but not true - I know the lengths professional wedding photographers go to in order that their expertise is made full use of. We carry two professional level cameras, a selection of lenses and digital cards, and always have the reassurance of an assistant to deal with any panics that may occur. Before I start processing the images every image is backed up to two other locations just in case the computer crashes etc. etc. Please, if you are going to use well-meaning relatives, make sure your photographs are safe for the years to come so that when it gets to your 25th anniversary you can still look back on your big day with pleasure!
